Bulk Upload Postcode IVR Routes with CSV: Faster Call Routing

Managing hundreds (or thousands) of postcode → endpoint mappings by hand is slow, error-prone, and hard to keep in sync across teams. Delacon’s Bulk Upload for postcode IVR turns that into a fast, repeatable task, so operations stay agile and callers reach the right team first time.

Why it matters (benefits you’ll feel)

  • Save serious time. Replace dozens of manual edits with a single CSV import. Roll out national changes in minutes instead of days.
  • Reduce misroutes and rework. One controlled source of truth means fewer typos, stale numbers, or inconsistent email notifications.
  • Scale without stress. Whether you manage 50 postcodes or 5,000, Bulk Upload applies consistent logic across your entire footprint.
  • Respond faster. Shift routing for pop-up stores, outages, seasonal peaks, or restructures without waiting on a dev queue.
  • Improve customer experience. Smarter, up-to-date routing connects callers to the right location or team sooner—shorter paths, happier customers.
  • Empower non-technical teams. Ops or CX managers can safely manage postcode routes via CSV—no code changes required.

How it works (simple by design)

Create a CSV with three required columns:

  • DTMF (postcode)
  • Termination Number (destination you want to ring)
  • Email ID (notification email)

Optional fourth column:

  • Transfer Duration (seconds) – if omitted, the default 40s applies.

Import options

  • Append – adds the new rows to your existing postcode list.
  • Overwrite – replaces the entire list with what’s in your CSV. (Use with care—this clears all existing entries.)

After importing, verify your routes in the portal to confirm postcodes and endpoints were added as expected.

Tip: Test with a small sample CSV first, then roll out your full file once you’re confident.

Real-world ways to use it

  • Seasonal or event spikes: Redirect postcodes near event venues to dedicated teams during peak periods.
  • Business continuity: Rapidly re-route affected postcodes to alternate sites during outages or renovations.
  • Network changes: Reflect store openings, closures, or territory shifts across an entire region in one pass.
  • Campaign support: Route postcodes tied to a promotion to a specialised sales queue for higher conversion.

Best-practice setup tips

  • Keep a master CSV in version control so you always know the latest approved routing.
  • Use consistent formats (e.g., E.164 for phone numbers).
  • Stage updates off-peak, then spot-check a few postcodes with test calls.
  • Document who owns the CSV and review cadence (e.g., monthly or pre-campaign).
